Here's my first attempt at posting a video. Hope it works!

Rolling...
Name Written in the Bible (of hockey)
Until recently, "The Hockey News" (THN) dubbed themselves "the Bible of Hockey". Also recently, I wrote a letter to the editor. When I opened up my recent copy of THN, I was disappointed to see that my e-mail was no in the "Letter to the Editor" section. However, I glanced over to the opposite page and was geeked to see my name and town (go Orono!) there. The editor had written a whole article echoing what I had e-mailed them out. True story. Check it out.

Now this is the third time one of my e-mails appeared in "The Bible of Hockey", but this is the first time that they wrote a whole article on it. Don't call to congratulate me during business hours. I am waiting for The Hockey News to call me for a job.

Surprise, Daddy!
Happy 30th Birthday, Eric! We had a little surprise party for him this weekend, and the Renkemas were all down. Evan was the centre of attention, and LOVED it. Darren was, well...grumpy and tired, but still so cute. We had a great time, and I'll try to post some pictures when I get a chance. (p.s. if you have some, email them to us...since our camera battery died that day...).

Evan-isms
Evan has become quite the talker. Here are some of his favourite words and phrases:
- "Come downstairs a minute?" or "Sit on couch a minute?"
- "Cana-na-na-na-na Flag!" (can you guess what that means??)
- "Evan is so cute!"
- "_________ everywhere!" (as in, "Lights everywhere!!" "Reuben everywhere!" "Fire hydrants everywhere!")
- If something is broken, we say that daddy can maybe fix it later. So anything that we see that is not right (ie. a tree branch fallen off) Evan says "Daddy baby fix it later!"
- After snack or lunch is done and he still wants more, he says "How about a muffin? How about Cheerios?"
- "Seat a while" - his version of "Have a seat. Stay awhile."
- After someone has left, he says "Nice to seem 'em"
- "Thanks so much!!"
- Any man or woman he doesn't know is called "Man" or "Lady." So he'll go up to someone and say "Hi, Man!!"
- If someone isn't wearing a shirt, they are naked. When our neighbour was mowing his lawn with no shirt on, he said "Mommy, man is naked!"

A Visit to Belleville
We spent the weekend in Belleville getting to know the cousins. Lots of fun was had by all... especially at nap time and bed times!!!
Enjoying a story before bedtime with Tante Sarah (& Baby), Nadine and Reuben. (Notice Evan is the one saying "cheese!")

Evan and Darren having some "Tummy Time."

Playing a game with Grandma on the stairs

Grandma and Grandpa and all 5 grandchildren

A Tough Day at Work
As many of you know, my job with Christian Horizons requires that I take the handicapped individuals on community outings. On August 22nd, three individuals and three staff went to a Blue Jays game at the SkyDome. I know that that is not the stadium's name anymore. It is the name that means the most to most Blue Jays' fans though.
This was the view from our seats. They weren't ordinary stadium seats. No. We had metal folding chairs. Their wheelchair seating area was along a metal railing (not very securely in place, I might add) with no permanent seats. So, those who weren't in wheelchairs, got the aformentioned metal folding chairs.

This is an"action" shot of Alex Rios. It reminds me of the time I used to play baseball when the outfielders got bored.
Even though the Blue Jays lost, everybody had a good time and hey, I got paid to go.

The Blue Jays lost to the Oakland Athletics 4-1. A.J. Burnett (the $55 million boo-boo?) was on the hill for the good guys and was tagged with the loss even though his team committed three errors.
