So poor Darren has had a rough couple of days. He had been quite irritable and fussy for several days and it was getting worse and worse. Monday he began couging and had a fever and was throwing up. Eric was working evenings, of course, so I had to wait until Aurora was picked up, then dropped Evan at some friends and went to the walk-in clinic. Fortuntately there wasn't much of a wait. As soon as the doctor took a look at his chest and breathing, he told us to take him over to emergency - he was in Respiratory Distress. So we headed over, and when you have an infant who isn't breathing so well, you get to bypass the waiting room!! They took him in right away, and administered some drugs to open his airways. His fever kept going up, so they gave him tylenol and advil for that. The drugs seemed to help, but he was just so tired and fussy (it was after 9) so it was hard to see how his breathing was. The doctor said he had improved, so he wrote us a prescription for inhalers, and we left. While we were filling the prescription, he was so happy and smiley. I assumed he was feeling better, and was ready for him to get a good night's sleep. We came home, and Eric was there with Evan. We put Darren to bed and around 11:15 he started screaming inconsolably. He wouldn't stop for an hour. So I got dressed, and we went back to emergency. Of course, after a 15 minute drive in a nice warm van, he had stopped screaming!! They took a look at him and said that he probably was just uncomfortable, so we gave him some more Tylenol and went home.
He's now doing much better. I guess he had a virus that attached itself to his lungs, which may be more susceptible since he was premature. We went to the family doctor today just to check him out, and came back with another prescription for an eye infection (that virus again!!). But he's happy and silly and goofy again. So that's been Darren's excitement.

Sounds like the little guy had quite an adventure. Glad to hear everything's ok.
Thanks for the update. Maybe it was an adventure for Darren, but I would think that it would be pretty scary for you! I'm glad that he's doing well again!
Poor little guy. Poor Marya! What a crazy evening! I bet you were exhausted the next day!
Get nice and healthy now, Darren!

Wow! poor little guy. Is he okay now? Give him a gentle hug and kiss from us
Will we still be seeing you this weekend?
Hope to, Oma. We haven't mentioned it yet to Evan or else he'd demand that we leave this minute!! Things are looking better, though!

Wow- how did *you* two sleep that night?
Not much sleep! But that's what being a parent is all about, right?
