Blue Man Group

Eric got us tickets to the Blue Man Group for our 8th anniversary. The show was on Thursday, and it was really neat. I took some very short video clips, but if you want to get the full effect, go to You Tube. This first one they are wearing this pipe-percussion contraption, and to the left, the guy is drumming on an open grand piano. Pretty cool!

This video was in complete darkness, and they were wearing light suits. They had poles that they whipped up and down to create the rhythm. Again, check out YouTube for a better video.

This next one is the water drums - they did this a number of times throughout the show - really impressive, especially with the lighting!

While we were waiting for the show to begin, a message started to flash across the screens. It just said little things like, "Hey....if you are reading this, then yell..." and people were surprised when half the audience yelled at the same time! Then it said "Let's play a trick on people who are not here right now...everytime during the show when you see a question mark on the screen... hold up your cell phone like during a rock ballad...people will think it is a strange cultural thing that they have never heard of..." There was lots of fun stuff like that. It made the waiting more bearable.

The opening act was a guy named David Garabaldi. He did art to rock music. While it was playing, he was swishing paint onto a giant canvas, and it didn't look like anything. All of a sudden, we realized it was a picture of John Lennon, Michael Jackson, or someone else. This one was kind of neat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEaj57UT_2Q. It's about 6 minutes long so skip through some of it if you want.

All in all, a great evening!
