Days 11 & 12

Once again, things are relatively quiet here with Isaac. We are enjoying the quieter room, and Isaac is sleeping peacefully for most of the day. Other babies wake and fuss, but our little guy just sleeps and smiles. I did kangaroo care again this afternoon for a few hours, and that's a nice way to spend some time, other than reading and Sudoku. I have been crocheting as well, and will include that in future pictures (once I find a way to charge my camera battery).

Not much to report in terms of his care. They are finally increasing his feeds, and he's up to 4 mL every 2 hours. That doesn't sound like much, but for the first week he was only getting 1 mL every 4 hours. He is almost back to his birthweight - he had been down about a hundred grams.

The medication did not fully close the valve. The doctor is not going to order another echo because they already know it is still there, and they are not going to do anything right now to fix it. If he was really struggling with his breathing, they might consider surgery, but he is doing so amazingly well that they are going to leave it for the time being, and follow up with it later when he is older.

Good news! I love that you are doing kangaroo care - makes a nice mental picture of him and you together.

Prayer is amazing because it tells our Father what is on our hearts. You guys are still on our hearts and we thank the Lord for HIS work in your lives!

Great news! It was so good to see him Monday without so much equipment attached to him. Keep us informed. Big brothers are doing great as well.
