The Orono Storm

The big storm woke us up at about midnight on Sunday. It started with winds and lightning. Then the hail started. Once it stopped, we went out and saw how much had fallen. It looked like it had snowed! Except that it was BIG hail, as you can see from the pictures. Our impatients were ripped to shreds, and most other plants are full of holes.

I think the wind got to our crabapple tree!! Evan can see this from the window and is quite concerned!! "Uh-oh tree! What happened? Daddy fix it??"

Actual size!!

Wow! That was quite the storm! So quarter sized hail really is quarter sized hail. Are your flowers starting to come back now? I know it is sad to see your flowers ruined by hail, but it's probably much worse if farmers' crops are ruined. I remember years ago, Grandpa, for some reason (I don't know why!) decided to grow tobacco. We had a really bad storm, and the leaves on the plants were entirely stripped off. And of course, with tobacco, the leaves are the product. Maybe God was telling him he should stop growing the stuff....
Is Daddy going to fix the tree for Evan?

Cool storm! I think you guys were just jealous of the storm we had here in Stratford, and had to compensate for the lack of massive tree damage with impressively sized hail stones...

Hey, I was just wondering who put all those links on the side of your blog. If you gave me one guess I'd say Marya did it. Of course, I've been wrong before.

Sorry Jono or Janice. Your guess was wrong!! You have one more guess. Here's a hint - a he did it. (that narrows it down to three members of our family = )

I forgot that you had a blog and remembered this morning.
Beautiful pictures of the baptism. I was wondering if you could get me either some doubles or send me over some in high quality as we forgot our camera that weekend. If it is not too much work, that is. I can email you the ones that I would like.

Do you think that your garden will recover from a storm like that? Sad about your tree.

Have fun at the library!
